Honeymoon – USS Missouri

Our second day in O’ahu was Chris’s day. The night before we went online and registered for a tour of the SS. Missouri. We arrived early got our tickets and took the bus out to the ship. Once there we climbed aboard and waited for our tour guides. After a few minutes they arrived and we were surprised to find that we were the only people taking the tour.  The two tour guides took us into the 16″ guns on deck and down into the engine and boiler rooms.IMG_5504 IMG_5492 IMG_5483 IMG_5481

After our tour we went back on deck to see where the documents for the surender of Japan was signed and where a kamakazi jet hit the side of the ship.IMG_5497

We also went up to where the captains would have been.IMG_5517 IMG_5522 IMG_5523 IMG_5524 IMG_5525

We saw doctors offices, dentist offices, and metal shops.IMG_5526 IMG_5527 IMG_5529

After 5 hours . . . it felt like I had seen everything.IMG_5525

Chris however could of lived on the ship.IMG_5530 IMG_5548 IMG_5549 IMG_5551

After I convinced Chris that I was famished and thirsty enough to warent leaving. We went and got a bite to eat at the Aviation museum cafeteria then headed off to our second attempt at the dole plantation. This time we arrived with almost enough time. We purchased our tickets and headed to the train.

The train took us thru the plantation and showed us where the pineapple was grown. It was pretty neat although and the train protected us a bit from the rain.IMG_5556 IMG_5561

Once done with the train ride we walked thru the gardens where we saw lots of native plants and habiscus. The garden was under construction and was a bit confusing (dead ends).IMG_5569 IMG_5573 IMG_5574 IMG_5581 IMG_5585

We then once again ran out of time and were not able to do the maze. So we went into the shop got some dole whip and headed back to the hotel.

For dinner we headed across the street to Keo’s Thai food. We ordered our normal Thai eats, pad thai and cashew nut chicken. IMHO Puket Thai in Abbotsford, Coconut Thai in Chilliwack, and the Thai place in Gibsons are better. IMHO. It was still good though just not like home.
